Carlos Burle is one of the pioneers of tow-in surfing, having surfed one of the world's biggest waves, we dived deep into being out of your comfort zone, mental health, and his journey.

Carlos grew up in Recife, a city located in northeastern Brazil, and says that ''I had a vision of life different from the society around me'' - He believed in freedom, good quality of life, and respect, rather than norms and looks. He fell in love with surfing especially because of the culture and lifestyle it allowed him to live. He battled the prejudice that society had against surfers and the low investment in the sport. He didn't want to be a product of society, he wanted to be himself and saw surf as a way to do that.

Burle says how athletes nowadays have the power to reach a huge amount of people - The question is how they use that power to make a positive impact on the world. Carlos says how we need to change this mindset of being the victim and blaming the system, and instead, be responsible for our own lives and follow what we believe in. Because of that, he explained why self-awareness is such an important element to learn what are your true values and how you can live a more true life.

Burle is a truly amazing individual, and reflecting on some really important topics resulted in one of the most meaningful talks of my entire life.
